Steve is the Principal Data Scientist at an Australian retailer, where he improves customer experience through end-to-end implementation of AI solutions, architects sophisticated pricing models, and builds automated tools for gathering market intelligence. Prior to data science, he provided economic advice to the finance, transport, and telco industries, and taught postgraduate quantitative topics at the Australian National University and Deakin University. Steve loves discussing big ideas in economics, tech, programming in R, Python, and Ruby, and startups; he’s an active contributor in the open source community; has authored numerous R libraries, tutorials, and websites; and has reached 1.7m people on Stack Overflow.
