Thomas Koentges is the founder of You Say Data, a New Zealand-based digital upskilling and data analysis company. He holds an award-winning PhD from Otago University and has gained extensive experience applying computational methods to historic languages and cultural heritage data while at the University of Leipzig, where he was a lecturer in the Faculty for Computer Science for six years. He has also held positions, residencies, and fellowships at Victoria University Wellington, Perseus Digital Library, and Harvard University’s Center for Hellenic Studies. He is a passionate educator and engaging public speaker and one of his main teaching aims is to enable a diverse range of people to employ R and data science methods confidently in their own domain, and so he has been teaching R to researchers in the natural and social sciences, humanities, and business for several years.
