Joy Payton is a teaching data scientist and supervisor of data education at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she leads a team that teaches reproducible computational methods to biomedical professionals in order to advance their research. She also provides instruction in coding and data analytics in a number of venues, including as an adjunct at Yeshiva University, through O’Reilly online training, and at conferences such as the Open Data Science Conference. Her passion is turning community activists into citizen data scientists so that public datasets can be used more effectively to improve communities and reduce disparities and harm.
